Sony Pictures Entertainment will soon begin a test rental program for UMD movies in Japan.

"Starting 7/16, the company plans on making twelve UMD movies available for rental at 50 shops throughout the island nation. This initial batch will be joined by two more titles starting 7/27. Pricing and specifics on retail locations has yet to be revealed for the rental program."
