ipsp.jpgRonin no Sakurakai Softronics recently updated their iPSP software to version 2.0.3. As with any major software update, a lot has been improved, including the User Interface, which has been re-engineered to make it easier to use. A Windows version has also been released, with an identical feature set save for the iPhoto integration. PSPworld got ahold of one of the developers to find out exactly what was improved.

"iPSP no longer requires you to name playlists a special way. Instead, it reads your iTunes library. You select the playlist you want to convert from a Popup Menu, and iPSP immediately starts conversion. Same as above (for photos). Select the Photo Album you want to convert from your iPhoto Library via a Popup Menu, and iPSP immediately starts conversion," said Kai Cherry, iPSP developer. "iPSP now supports Fullscreen mode for widescreen videos. Simply check "Auto fullscreen Mode" and iPSP checks your video and modifies the output (via an unofficial "hack" so the user is warned about this) to be non-anamorphic. Additionally, it automatically adds black bars if needed to maintain the correct proportion."

The update also brought with it speed improvements, an improved video queue, and a new built-in manager for game saves. Pricing for iPSP is 19.99 until March 31, at which time it will return to its regular price of 24.99. A demo of iPSP is available from the website.

I paid $19.99 for the XP version of IPSP and I regret buying it. The software has crashed on 5 different PCs I've installed it on. This software does not convert DVDs and they state this in their HELP guide (when it doesn't crash!). Don't buy this until they fix it!
