PsxSony today announced two new PSX models — the 250GB DESR-7700 and the 160GB DESR-5700 — which enable users to convert recorded video content to the MPEG-4 format and copy it onto a Memory Stick for viewing on the PSP. The encoding process is said to take up to a staggering five hours for one hour of video. The new models will go on sale next month in Japan. The DESR-7700 is expected to sell for approximately 80,000 yen, while the DESR-5700 will sell for approximately 60,000 yen. The Sony PSX is a hybrid PlayStation 2 gaming device that provides DVR (digital video recorder) capabilities like a TiVo box.

I really wish Sony could have found a way around 5 hour record time for 60min of video. Otherwise this would be a really awesome cross product relationship, being able to record almost any show and watch it away from the TV at your leisure. Well, the only good thing about living outside of Japan is that there will be new revisions and better performance for the later models released stateside.(If they do release stateside)
