Reuters reports Credit Suisse First Boston said on Friday that chip makers Marvell Technology Group and Cypress Semiconductor stand to benefit from the March 24 introduction of the PSP. Marvell Technology supplies the wireless communication chips for the PSP, representing a total revenue opportunity of $50 million to $75 million for the company. Marvell is Sony's sole source for the wireless chips, CSFB said, who estimated the chip's price at $5 each. A Marvell spokesman confirmed that the company was selling chips for the PSP. The silicon timing clock is believed to be provided by Cypress Semiconductor and Integrated Circuit Systems. CSFB estimates the timing clocks could mean $10 million to $15 million in revenue for the companies. Representatives of Cypress and Integrated Circuit Systems could not immediately be reached.
