The latest version of Sony's PSP system firmware has been cracked by a programmer, which will predictably lead to homebrew development as was the case with the older PSP software.

Joystiq reports: "Some clever fellow has managed to figure out a buffer overflow condition for Sony’s PlayStation Portable device. This means that programmers can now create and run custom programs on the PSP, opening up the potential for unofficial applications to run homebrewed games, custom applications and even pirated games."
