Will The Sony PS Vita Replace Your iPhone, iPad

The Sony PS Vita is set to enter a much different handheld gaming world, far different than the one that existed when the Sony PSP originally released years ago.

Back when the Sony PSP released, it had one main competitor in Nintendo with the Nintendo DS.

Devices such as the Apple iPhone, iPad, as well as the Android smartphones and tablets were not quite there yet in terms of the mass popularity that they are at now.

There was no such thing as an App Store, no games such as Angry Birds eating up hours of handheld gaming time, etc.

So can the Sony PS Vita truly replace your iPhone and iPad, we are set to take a look.

In order to truly consider this a remote possibility, you have to take into account that you will be purchasing the 3G Sony PS Vita.

By doing this, you will be able to get your Sony PS Vita completely mobile, hooked up to a cell network at 3G speeds at all times.

This is going to allow the Sony PS Vita to go toe-to-toe with the iPhone and other smartphones and tablets, allowing for full Facebook, Twitter, and other social integration.

Web browsing will also be a breeze, as the handheld browser has been receiving rave reviews.

What about the rest though? For one, the Sony PS Vita is likely to have more in-depth, hardcore games that are going to appeal to that demographic.

From a casual gaming standpoint though, you are not likely to find many games for 99 cents on the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation Network.

The Sony PS Vita will be a full multimedia device though, and the screen will surely top just about anything on the market right now.

The big difference is the ability to send text messages and make phone calls. Currently, the only way you will be able to do that on the Sony PS Vita is through Skype or a similar application.

The Sony PS Vita is entering a tough market in Japan as well as the U.S. and in order for it to truly be a success it is going to have to appeal to the casual gamers as well as the hardcore gamers.

It clearly has the features to be a superb compliment to your smartphone, but it does not quite have the functionality to fully replace an iPhone or iPad as of right now.

This could change with future software updates, but as of now it just does not seem logical.
