Turbo Grafx 16 Games Coming to Playstation Store

TurboGrafx-16-icon.png

In Japan, the Turbo Grafx 16 console was called the PC Engine. And in Japan, PSP owners have been able to purchase and play emulated games on their handhelds since July 15th. According to console and software maker Hudson, these emulated games will soon be making their way to the Playstation Store in North America.

At the moment there are only four titles available on the service, for the somewhat steep price of 600 Yen ($6.50 USD). These are : Bomberman '94, New Adventure Island, Sengoku Mahjong, and Devil's Crush. However, there were tons of other great games that Hudson could conceivably release on the system now that work on the emulator is complete: Keith Courage, Bonk's Adventure, Ninja Spirit, Air Zonk, Military Madness, and Blazing Lasers, to name just a few.

Of course, homebrewers have had access to a working Turbo Grafx 16 emulator for ages, but this is good news for people who don't have custom firmware. If Sony has been able to reach out successfully to hardware manufacturers like Husdon from the golden era of 16-bit home gaming, what other emulated goodies might they be able to bring to the Playstation Store? Dare we imagine a Sega Saturn or Neo Geo CD emulator?

Air Zonk on the Turbo Grafx 16 was a pretty awesome game. Soon to be playable on the PSP?

Sega Saturn? Oh no, my friends. Although I welcome segs saturn games, there are soooo many sega genesis games that deserve my full replaying attention like the Biohazard Battle shooter (still one of my favs) and the Dragons Fury Pinball collective!! Bring It!
