Try the Demo for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

Capcom has released a demo for its upcoming PSP Monster Hunter title, Freedom
Unite
. This new entry in the series features more environments, monsters, weapons and multiplayer options than we have seen before on the handheld. In order to give us a taste of what's new with this installment, the publisher has put together a jam-packed demo which can be downloaded today for free via the PSN or directly to your PSP. We will have to wait until June 23rd to get our hands on the full release, but the demo should whet our appetites leading up to launch.

When you first boot up the demo, you can choose from one of three different quests: Plum Hermitaur, Hypnocatrice, and an Epic Hunting Quest which pits you against three different monsters. The quests will take place in either the desert, swamp or forest environments.

Capcom really wants to show off every apsect of the experience to convince long-time fans that the new game is worth their money. The demo lets players try out virtually every weapon type in the game including the Long Sword, Great Sword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Light Bowgun, Heavy Bowgun, Lance, Gun Lance, and Bow. As gamers, we are quite impressed with the amount of content on offer here, because it allows players to get a good sense of what to expect in the final game (an experience that could last over 100 hours if our previous Monster Hunter addictions are anything to go by).

Those who prefer to hunt in packs will be able to join with up to four players in local ad-hoc multiplayer. However, if you lack human companions to assist you, there is the option to bring one of three new felyne assistants along to the field. The Felynes available in the demo are a Melee Fighter, a Bomber, and a Support type.

Look for more information about Monster Hunter Freedom Unite leading up to its release in June, including a feature review, here at PSP World.
