Tom Clancy's EndWar Comes to PSP November 4

Wow, that was quick. It was only last week that the PSP version of Tom Clancy's End War was announced. Now, we have been given a release date, and it is coming up fast. The PSP version of this multi-platfrom tactical shooter will arrive on November 4th, alongside console big brothers. On the Nintendo DS and PSP, EndWar will be a turn-based strategy game. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions are in development by Ubisoft, while the handheld game was developed by Funatics Software and optimized for the handheld platforms. German developers Funatics are most widely known for their PC conversion of popular board game, the Settlers of Catan.

We don't want to sound skeptical, but usually when game announcements are made this quickly, and when third-party studios are called in to "optimize" handheld ports, it spells disaster. Particularly when a Google image search doesn't yield any console-specific screenshots, we start to worry. We suspect that Ubisoft may have missed the recent Sony memo warning against releasing sub-standard ports of multi-platform games. On the other hand, the prospect of a solid turn-based strategy game in the tradition of Advance Wars has us tingling with nerdy excitement. Hopefully, Funatics can translate the PC develoment experience to create a compelling handheld game.

Nevertheless, we wait with bated breath for the game's November 4th release, and we will hold back a final verdict until we've had a chance to check the game out.
