And why exactly are there only two handheld game platforms effectively in existent right now? That is the question Gamasutra put to Brian O’Rourke, Senior Analyst for the Converging Markets & Technologies Group at In-Stat, who helped author a recent report on this subject for his company. O’Rourke in effect tells Gamasutra handhelds can fail if they are hard to use and don’t have an acceptable price to most consumers. Also of importance are recognizable characters. As for the PSP vs DS, Nintendo has more hit titles for their gaming platform then Sony does and is one among several reasons why the DS is doing better in the market right now.
