Sony sells 6.2 million PSPs over holidays

Sony on Thursday reported positive third quarter financial results. The company had sales and operating revenue of 2.4 trillion yen during the holiday quarter, up 10 percent from last year. Net income was up 18% to 168.9 billion yen.

Along with its earnings, Sony also revealed for the first time how many PSPs it sold during the busy holiday shopping season. The company said it shipped 6.22 million PSPs in the third quarter, an increase of 5.71 million units from last year. More than 15 million PSPs have now been sold worldwide.
