Sony Reveals Minis Sales Numbers

Video game publishers have been notoriously secretive with their sales numbers when it comes to download services like the PSN and Xbox Live. It is not unreasonable to think that the reason has largely been due to slow consumer uptake in digital downloads (witness the problems facing the PSP Go). That has led to a situation in which sales numbers, when given, are usually only for the proven hits, while the failure of smaller titles is kept hush hush. Sony have usefully released some figures for their PSP Minis service, although title-specific numbers are still mysteriously absent. The other thing that is slightly deceptive in these numbers is that they may also reflect the 2 free Minis downloads given to Playstation Plus members this month.

According to the company's corporate blog, over 1 million Minis games have been downloaded globally since the service launched in November 2009. More than 50 PSP Minis developers tossed their hats into the ring, and some of them have been handsomely rewarded for their efforts. Here is an official list of the most popular Minis titles, which unfortunately does not provide specific sales numbers:

1. Age of Zombies
2. Monopoly
3. Fieldrunners
4. Zombie Tycoon
5. Bloons
6. Spot The Differences!
7. Pinball Fantasies
8. Mahjongg Artifacts: Chapter 2
9. Yetisports Pengu Throw
10. Breakquest
