Sony releases PSP firmware v2.80 update

Sony today released the latest version of the PSP's firmware, v2.80. The update brings the ability to: download video and image content via RSS; register devices via a wireless LAN access point with the LocationFree Player; play AAC files with the .3gp under file extension; and play content saved in "MUSIC", "PICTURE" and "VIDEO" folders on a Memory Stick. The new firmware is available from the Network Update option in the PSP's menu -- the official Sony System Update page is expected to offer the download soon.
