Sony PS Vita Party App, Social Gaming Goes Live

The Sony PS Vita is set to really showcase some tremendous apps when it gets ready to launch, and we wanted to focus on one of the more intriguing apps, the Party application.

The Sony PS Vita Party app is going to be the key to social gaming on the new next-generation Sony handheld.

It is going to work by linking you up with fellow gamers on the PlayStation Network.

The Party app will allow you to speak to any of your Sony PS Vita friends at any time, anywhere you want.

It will work not only as a voice application, allowing for voice chat, but also as a text chat application.

The Party app is going to support up to eight friends communicating via the application at once.

You will also be able to use it across multiple games, similar to how the chat functionality works on Xbox Live on the Xbox 360.

Say you are playing a game of Ridge Racer on the PS Vita, and your friend is playing Uncharted Golden Abyss. With the Party app, you will still be able to communicate with your friend via the application while you both continue your games.

You will also be able to invite your friends to come and play the game with you, allowing you to jump in and out of multiplayer games whenever you please.

It is going to be these types of apps which really push the social aspect of the Sony PS Vita, making it stand alone against other portable gaming devices.

The Sony PS Vita Party app will be available on launch day with the handheld.
