Ridge Racer is one of those series that just keeps on pumping out exciting, fast-paced arcade style racing experiences on console after console, generation after generation. The latest iteration from the franchise will hit the Sony PS Vita at launch, and will be our launch game focus of the day.

Ridge Racer released day-and-date with the original Sony PSP and was one of the more quality releases on launch-day.

The game managed to showcase the abilities of the then next-generation handheld from Sony, showcasing some extremely fast-paced racing with a great frame rate, as well as some quick arcade style controls.

Namco Bandai will bring the drifting we have come to know and love from the franchise to the PS Vita, and the game is looking quite solid thus far.

Ridge Racer on the PS Vita is going to feature single-player racing, as well as multi-player racing both locally, as well as via Wi-Fi over the PlayStation Network.

Early previews of the game have shown that the visuals are looking very solid, and the game appears to absolutely fly on the new next-generation handheld.

Namco Bandai is gearing up ship the game with a set of card and tracks, but will also reportedly expand on the game in the months after release with new downloadable content, most likely for an extra fee.

The game will feature the same enjoyable single-player experience we have seen from past Ridge Racer experiences.

The game's online functionality will be showcased with an online mode known as Planetary League. This will be a mode where players will play on a team, and take part in missions for the sake of the team. Namco will be updating the missions on a daily basis to keep things interesting.

The game will ship with three tracks and five cars at a reduced price, but will have extra DLC over time.

Get ready to slip and slide with Ridge Racer, as the game is looking quite enjoyable on the PS Vita.
