Sony: Wireless Playstation Store Access Coming

playstation-store_icon.jpg

Currently, PSP owners are feeling a little bit left out in the cold when it comes to the Playstation Store. The online download service has lots of great juicy content for use on the PSP such as retro PSOne games, but there is no way to download this content directly to the device without a separate internet-enabled PC or PS3. With the recent and successful launch of the Apple iStore for iPhone, this omission has become glaringly obvious. Today at the Year End Strategy Conference in Japan, Sony announced that they will be following in Apple's footsteps by making the Playstation Store accessible directly from the PSP's wireless internet connection.

The improvement with be coming later this fall, times to concide with a new PS3 muliplayer streaming functionality as well as the release of the PSP-3000, also known as the PSP-Brite.
