Sony Offering Cheaper Option For PS Vita Games

One of the biggest gripes gamers have with the upcoming Sony PS Vita revolves around the fact that the console, along with the games, are pretty expensive.

Lately, handheld gaming has gotten a lot cheaper with the introduction of the Apple iPhone, iPad, as well as Android devices.

The App Store, coupled with the Android Market, has introduced a wide array of mobile games that are selling for as little as 99 cents, or free with in-game purchases.

This is making it harder for companies such as Sony and Nintendo to compete on price in the handheld gaming market, a market being squeezed by developers selling games for dirt cheap, or even free in some circumstances.

One thing that is going to make things easier going forward though is the introduction of digital copies of all games.

Sony has confirmed that every single Sony PS Vita game will be able to be purchased and downloaded over the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation Network.

This means that gamers could technically purchase all of their games without ever going to a retail store.

This has led to further confirmation from Sony that they are actually going to sell the digital copies of the games at a discounted price.

Sony has yet to confirm just how big the discounts are going to be, but it is likely they will range anywhere from $5 to $10 per game.

This means that you will likely be able to get a game such as Uncharted Golden Abyss from the PlayStation Store digitally for $5 or $10 cheaper than you would be able to get it if you took a ride to GameStop.

This should go a long way to helping improve sales over the PlayStation Store.
