Sony Considering UMD Solutions for PS Vita

gf-kratos-t.jpg

We've already mentioned that PS Vita is compatible with most digital PSP games, but Sony says it may also have a solution for those who own UMD versions of some titles.

Currently Sony is toying with various solutions to make UMD titles compatible to the PS Vita.

Firstly, Destructoid reports that "Sony says that they're considering some kind of program to offer special download versions as replacements".

Furthermore, Geek.com has a rather convincing theory, suggesting that Sony may have a physical trade-in plan involving swapping UMDs for virtual ones. This assumption based on the fact that Sony chose to tell retailers first at the Sony sales briefing in Japan. Do note, that this is just a theory, albeit a very likely one.

In addition to the availability, it was previously announced PS Vita users should be able to connect and play with original PSP players without issue, according to Eurogamer.

Once Sony announces the plan to the world, we'll have more details regarding how PS Vita users will be able to play classic PSP games.
