Sony Announces 3 Free Games for PSP Go in America

New PSP Go customers in the United States will receive digital download vouchers for 3 free games, starting this month. The news comes after a similar (and more generous) free game offer was revealed for European territories. Sony hopes to attract new buyers to its download-only PSP go platform following sluggish sales at retail. Customers have complained of high game prices for downloadable titles as well as the hardware itself, which sells for as much as $249.

The new PSP go system's "Digital Game Pack" will include PlayStation Network downloadable game vouchers for three premiere PSP titles. When purchasing a PSP go system at major retailers in North America between June 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011, consumers can download the following titles at no additional cost:

LittleBigPlanet PSP
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3

It's not a bad selection of games to get folks started with the PSP, although all of them have been offered in hardware bundles independently already. However, given the approach of E3 and the possibility that shiny new hardware will be announced soon, we might wait for a further price drop before jumping in. Make sure that you check with your retailer to make sure that the system your buying comes with the vouchers if you want to take advantage of this offer.

SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 is one of the free games on offer to new customers of Sony's PSP Go.
