Should Sony Delay The Launch Of PS Vita In U.S.

Sony is in trouble with the Sony PS Vita, as the new next-generation handheld is already struggling in Japan. This has brought up the question, should Sony delay the launch of the PS Vita in the U.S. and U.K.?

The Sony PS Vita launched in Japan on December 17th, and has now been on-sale for just a few weeks.

When the handheld initially launched, Sony touted the positive sales numbers from its first few days available to gamers.

Things have taken a turn south though in Japan, as the Sony PS Vita have been outsold by not only its predecessor the Sony PSP, but also the Nintendo 3DS.

The Sony PS Vita sold roughly 325,000 units during its launch weekend.

The week after that though was not as impressive, as the handheld only sold roughly 73,000 units from December 19th to December 25th.

This compares to 101,000 units of the Sony PSP, and 482,000 units of the Nintendo 3DS sold during that same time period.

Sony is in trouble with the PS Vita, which is the most expensive handheld on the market.

Would delaying the PS Vita to drop the price before it releases in the U.S. help with its sales?

The Sony PS Vita is going to launch in the U.S. in February 2012, just 7-weeks away roughly.

As of right now though, it appears that there are not many gamers ready to jump on the PS Vita bandwagon at launch.
