Rockstar and Timbaland Announce Beaterator PSP

Hip Hop music producer Timbaland has teamed up with Rockstar games to bring a brand new music mixing title to the PSP called Beaterator. One-part track sequencer, one-part mini-game collection, this title is going to be unlike anything else we’ve seen on handhelds or consoles. The title of the game might be familiar to some music fans – that is because Rockstar originally developer a web-based flash game with the same title several years ago. The new game, which will be exclsuive to the PSP, is expected to release in the summer of 2009.

It sounds like the company is going to improve the original flash game and include a lot more content on the PSP disk:

“Built from the foundation of Rockstar's widely-acclaimed original web version of Beaterator, Beaterator for PSP system is both a powerful portable music mixer with robust beatmaking features, as well as a highly-addictive collection of rhythm games and challenge modes -- all in the palm of your hand.”

Timbaland also sounded excited about the new game, saying: "I've always been a huge fan of Rockstar and love playing their games. I'm thrilled to be partnering with them and making music for Beaterator. I cannot wait to get this in the hands of our fans!"

The game will feature a built-in soundkit consisting of beats created by none other than Timbaland himself.

It doesn't look like much, but Beaterator sounds fantastic.
