Rhythm of War: The Next Patapon?

Patapon was one of the most innovative games to come along in quite a while, and to the delight of PSP owners, it was exclusive to our handheld machine. Thanks to its charming mix of rhythm and strategy genres, the game bordered on a massive success in Japan and even managed to attract a healthy audience of gamers in the West as well. Developers, paying attention to the success of the Patapon franchise have set out not just to imitate its success, but make the game even better.

Eastern European studio Beatshapers has announced a new PSP project that expands upon the core gameplay of Patapon. Called "Rhythm of War", this new game takes the battle to not just one -- but four independent planes of view. That means the action is that much more frantic, and players have to be that much more attentive in order to achieve victory.

Unlike Patapon, the battle will take players on a tour of different time periods, as they fight to eradicate an alien enemy.

Right now, Beatshapers is looking for a publisher for the game. We certainly hope that they are successful, because this is one title that we would love to see on the PSP.

We're not sure what's goingon in this screenshot from Rhythm of War, but it looks awesome.
