PSP Firmware 6.0 Includes More Security

Sony is still concerned about piracy on their PSP hardware. Since the recent news that the PSP 3000 was cracked by homebrew hackers, the company is eager to lock them out of future hardware revisions by way of firmware updates. The new leap to version 6.0 is coming soon, but it doesn't do much more than increase security. It seems like the days of massive feature updates are behind us, at least for now...

There is one nifty update in the new firmware: For those of you looking to customize your XMB (XrossMediaBar), a few new colors will be added under the Theme Settings. These new theme colors can only be used on PSP models 2000 or after. PSP 1000 (phat) users are out of luck, apparently, but they can run homebrew so it probably works out fine for them.

Additionally, Sony has changed the name of the "Network Update" to "System Update", but the process works exactly the same way as before. Overall, this is a pretty pathetic update from the user's perspective.

While we are talking about firmware updates, what new features would you like to see Sony add to the PSP via future updates?
