PSP DEMO - GOD EATER aka Gods Eater Burst

gf-kratos-t.jpg

At first glance, God Eater may appear to betray close similarities to Monster Hunter, but it is an original Namco franchise with many features that set it apart. The futuristic setting and story set God Eater (aka Gods Eater Burst for Euro & NA) apart at least on a superficial level, but the battle system, which borrows the high-flying, gun-wielding tactics of Devil May Cry, makes this more than just a Monster Hunter clone.

With tutorial missions, big boss dragons, and networking capabilities for up to four players, the game has managed to find a solid base amongst Japanese fans at least. From its Wiki entry it appears rest of the world take up has been thus far, but this may mean a sleeper hit is on the cards. Download the demo below.

About God Eater
Offering a compelling and dramatic story of human survival in a desolate post-apocalyptic world, God Eater is a fast-paced action game that will captivate players with more than 100 exciting missions. Players can dynamically change their game strategy at any time by instantly switching between weapon forms to slash, shoot, and devour gigantic enemies and customize bullets to alter the strength, pattern and elemental type for super powerful attacks. Featuring cooperative modes, players can hunt with AI controlled party members or join hunting parties with up to four players via local adhoc mode or connect the PSP system to the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system to play online using adhocParty.

"The anticipation for God Eater in Japan has been tremendous with more than 1.5 million downloads of the demo," said Pete Andrew, vice president of product development, D3Publisher. "God Eater offers high-speed, stylized action mixed with a deep dramatic storyline that makes it uniquely different from its competitors and we look forward to bringing this title to gamers in North America."

In God Eater, the earth has been ruined by mutated beasts known as the Aragami and mankind's only hope against them is the Jinki weapons and the God Eaters who wield them. Players will create their own hero and battle more than 35 unique enemy types to find items to customize their weapons, guns, bullets and shields to increase their strength and stamina. A unique predator mode will add a new level of strategy as players transform their Jinki to beast form to gain a boost in stats and special bullets to launch potent attacks solo or with up to four friends.
