It seems that the Sony consumer base is not completely ready to embrace digital downloads, at least according to company executives. The company today annnounced that it will release a series of game packs on UMD, each filled with a collection of titles that were previously available only on the PlayStation Store. The packs will be organized according to different themes, and each will contain 3 titles. The themes announced so far include the Puzzle Pack, which will be available in the middle of October, and the Power Pack, which will come later in the month.
The Puzzle Pack will contain the titles Lemmings, Go! Sudoku, and Go! Puzzle. The power pack will include flOw, Beats, and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops. The choice of titles to include in each of these releases seems a little bit unusual, but it might provide an opportunity for gamers to pick up a title or two that they missed on the download service. Sony promises that more themed packs will be forthcoming in 2009, although they have not yet announced the themes for those UMDs.
