PS Vita Memory Cards - More Wallet Friendly Than Some Make Out

gf-kratos-t.jpg

Kotaku just put out a scary piece on PS Vita pricing. They are taking into account the additional prices of PS Vita memory cards, which according to them would be set to clear out your little piggy bank.

"....several types of memory cards will be available: 4GB (¥2,200 or US$29), 8GB (¥3,200 or $42), 16GB (¥5,500 or $72), and 32GB (¥9,500 or $124).

This means if you plan on saving, say, your Uncharted: Golden Abyss games, then you'll need to buy one of these Memory Cards. This Dec. if you buy a 4GB memory card and a Vita in Japan, you'll be spending the rough equivalent of $279. If you go all out and buy a Vita and 32GB memory card, you'll be spending the rough equivalent of $374.

The figures are slightly inflated due to the exchange rate."

Note the last sentence we've highlighted in bold. In the Kotaku post this isn't as prominent and we'd advise readers to take much of the article with a pinch of salt and not be scared off. Please remember that all new tech and gadgets are released at their highest retail prices and these soon drop off very quickly. As many iPhone owners know to their chagrin. So it will be the same for the PS Vita, but if you exercise a little patience you can wait for the memory cards to also drop in price, especially when third party brands such as Sandisk start making PS Vita memory cards.

We'll update this post with news as soon as we hear anything. In the meantime, post your thoughts or any info you have on PS Vita memory cards in the comments below.
