PS Vita Hacked To Run Sega Genesis Emulator

The Sony PS Vita has been hacked to run a Sega Genesis emulator, allowing PS Vita owners to play classic Sega Genesis games such as Sonic on the new next-generation Sony handheld.
The news was first revealed by TinyCartridge.com as they came across a video that was posted on YouTube by a user named frwololo.
This was done utilizing the actual built-in PSP emulation that is in the Sony PS Vita's software arsenal already.
Basically, what frwololo managed to do was to get an emulator program running within an already installed emulator, in this case the PS Vita's PSP emulation software.
The Half Byte Loader is running the Picodrive emulator that was utilized to make this a reality.
The user made it very clear in the YouTube video that he firmly believes Sony is going to fix this PS Vita security hole in the near future.
What it does expose though is that there are clearly security holes in the initial PS Vita set-up.
Though the PS Vita has not been totally cracked just yet, this is yet another sign that things are getting awfully close as more and more tricks are found.
It may not be homebrew, but it is very cool to see Sega Genesis running on the handheld.
There are some reports claiming that this is a fake video and that Sega Genesis emulators are not actually running on the handheld, but the video looks pretty legit.
Feel free to check it out for yourself and let us know what you think! Check out the video here.
