Port of La Pucelle Tactics Coming to PSP

In case you are not fluent in French history, 'La Pucelle' was the nickname given to Joanne of Arc by her supporters. La Pucelle: Tactics was also a popular role playing game on the PS2 that had very little to do with the French Heroine besides the title. However, the game does share some similarities with the successful Jean d'Arc PSP game from Level 5, which owes more than just the name of its main character to the trailblazing original.

Combat in La Pucelle: Tactics takes place on an isometric grid of varying size and shape. Each battle starts with a set number and arrangement of enemies, a Base Panel, and a number of random Dark Portals scattered around the map.

Combat takes place on a separate screen, and not only involves the attacker and their target, but also any friendly units adjacent. Like in other tactics games, all party members get experience from the combat if the team inflicts any casualties.

In a twist to the genre, La Pucelle also features Dark Portals and Dark Energy. Dark Portals are gates to the Dark World. They can release a stream of dark energy which spills over the ground in one direction until they meet a character or enemy or an obstacle. Obstacles stop the energy, while the stream will be redirected in the direction a character on the stream is facing. If left uncovered for a number of rounds, a dark portal will release a new enemy onto the map.

Dark Portals also come in elemental varieties, and can be combined by strategically clever players for more powerful effects.

Along with the core gameplay, La Pucelle PSP will also make the following improvements:

• Four chapter Demon Prier storyline.
• Ability to skip battle animations.
• Ability to skip cutscenes.
• New spells and skills.
• Fully voiced.
• Cameos by Etna, Flonne, and Laharl.

The gameis being developed by Nippon Ichi Software and will be released in Japan on November 26, 2009.
