Play with your PlayStation 3... Remotely!

Play-with-your-Playstation-3-remotely-t.jpg

Last night was Kaz Harai's Keynote Speech at the Tokyo game show. Among other announcements such as the official announcement of the DualShock 3 for the PS3 and the delay of home was the expanded remote play abilities the PSP and PS3 will share in the future. PSP Fanboy reports that you will be able to turn off and on your PS3 with your PSP, and in the future the PS3 will be able to act as a hub and you can use the PSP as a PS3 controller. Don't know how well that'd work considering the PSP is missing an analog stick and a few buttons but Sony will work it out. Also, on a side note, the PlayStation Store will soon be able to be used on your PC eliminating the middleman for downloading PS1 games to your PSP. More details to come as the show chugs along.

Stumble It!

Actually, Sony has already come out with a PS3-PSP controller mapping. In Remote Play mode, if you go press the Home button on your PSP and choose Settings > Assign Buttons, you'll find that you can change the control scheme from Type 1 to Type 2. Type 1 appears to be the more obvious mapping with the extra buttons left out. Type 2 is the full mapping scheme, which seems to involve using the Select button in combination with other controls to accomodate the missing ones. It's not optimal (and would probably be a severe handicap in actual gameplay), but it's there.
