New PSP Advertising Targets Teen Girls

The teen girl demographic is a fickle but lucrative group for advertisers. Up until recently, it has been hard for video game manufacturers to sell to younger female customers, but the Wii and DS systems have shown that it is possible with the right kind of software and marketing approach. Now, Sony would like to pitch its somewhat more masculine PSP device to a more female audience. It is doing so in the form of an all new color (Lilac PSP) and a software bundle that includes Hannah Montana: Rock Out the Show. There isn't currently much in the way of software that purposely targets girls, but we have a female friend who can't get enough of Burnout: Legends on her black PSP. She's kind of a weirdo, though.

To help promote its PSP, and all of the shovelware presumably coming down the pipeline for what Sony thinks are the typical female gamers, they've launched a new website. Here's what it looks like:

I think PSP is going to need a bit more than a color change to lilac and a catchy song. Seriously.

Girls that like gaming already bought a 'normal' PSP and others would rather buy a NDS for the casual games -.-

Im a girl, own a black PSP and seriously dislike fluffy games. Zombies, blood and gore catch my interest way more than any of that.

My teen daughter would maybe like psp if it had more girly games. My 8yr old would love this simply because it's Hannah Montana. Unless they brought out games like; littlest pet shop, bratz, tinkerbell etc, etc I think it would be a waste of money.

I would also like to add that teenage girls are not into Hannah Montana games, They like games; sims, zoo tycoon, kingdom hearts (That would be awesome on psp) & viva pinata, just to name a few. Younger girls would be more into the Hannah Montana thing. You should do some more research on what girls like (ask my 13 & 8 yr olds they'll tell you what girls like!!)
