Monster Hunter Unite Viral Video is Awesome

monster_unite_viral_icon.jpg

We don't normally like the idea of viral videos being used to advertise PSP software and hardware. After all, the most famous PSP-related viral advertising campaign was, by all standards, a catastrophic failure. And yet, Capcom have stepped up to the plate and delivered a charming and informative viral for their upcoming PSP title, Monster Hunter: Unite. This video, entitled "Phenomenon", charts the success of the Monster Hunter franchise in Japan, on the eve of the third game's release in Western territories. Really, the announcer didn't have to say anything else in the video: he had us at "Yarghh!".

We salute Capcom and their wonderful presenter/actor, for taking a risk at embarassing themselves in public. It is done completely for our own amusement, after all. Monster Hunter Unite ships to North America and Europe this spring. We will have complete coverage of the game, including a full review once we get closer to the arrival of this highly-anticipated title.
