Mark Beaumont, Capcom Executive, Has Passed Away

Mark Beaumont, a popular game industry personality and executive, has died of a heart attack today. Beaumont was the COO for Capcom in North America and Europe, after having worked in the game industry for approximately 25 years. Before his employment at Capcom, Beaumont had served as Executive VP of publishing at Midway Games. His career stretched back to the glory days of video games in the 1980s, with successful stints at companies like Atari, Activision, Data East, Mindscape, and Psygnosis.

The company issued a letter to fans regarding the sad news earlier today:

Dear friends of Capcom,

"Our COO and dear friend, Mark Beaumont, passed away this morning. This sudden loss has left us with deep sadness. Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones. We will remember him for his humor, passion and commitment to Capcom and our industry. He was a great leader and visionary and his spirit will carry on in everything that we do. Please join us in memory of Mark.

Thank you for your attention and ongoing support of Capcom."
