The Sony PS Vita has a fantastic line-up of games that are set to release in 2012 on launch day in February, as well as afterwards leading into the second half of the year. With that said, we have put together an early list of the potential top 5 PS Vita games of 2012.

Looking ahead, the Sony PS Vita will launch with at least 20 games in the U.S. on February 22, 2012.

From a console launch perspective, this is a very high number of titles, but it appears that many of them will indeed be quality releases.

We are encouraging our readers to sound off in the comments section of what they think will be the top 5 PS Vita games of 2012, as this is certainly not the de facto list.

5. MotorStorm RC

The MotorStorm franchise helped launch the Sony PS3 and showcase the capabilities of the next-gen Sony console. The game is looking to do the same again on the Sony PS Vita, looking extremely creative and unique from a racer perspective. This one is going to come out of the gates firing and should be a great release on the handheld.

4. Resistance: Burning Skies

The original Sony PlayStation Portable was plagued in the first-person shooter department since it did not have two analog sticks. Now that the new PS Vita does, that opens the door for the FPS genre to really make an impact, and fans of Resistance should be excited over this one.

3. Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is looking tremendous on the Sony PS Vita, as it could turn out to be the best straight-up action title on the handheld. Just check out some of the videos online for an example of what I am talking about.

2. Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Uncharted is going to steal the show on PS Vita launch day and it certainly should. This game looks polished, intense, and exciting. If you are looking for a reason to buy a PS Vita in 2012, this is certainly a big one.

1. Final Fantasy X

Square Enix has confirmed they are bringing the classic RPG to the Sony PS Vita, and gamers immediately rejoiced. The classic game is getting a release on the next-gen Sony handheld, and is going to suck hours out of our lives indeed when it hits. Here is to hoping we actually see a 2012 release of this one.
