iD Software Holding Back on Doom 4 Information, Focusing on Shipping RAGE First

gf-kratos-t.jpg

Owing that nothing came out about Doom 4 at QuakeCon, you'd think iD Software would have a reason for the long wait, right?

You bet there is.

Dave Oshry over at RipTen pressed all of the usual suspects about the absence of such information (John Carmack included) to see what the hell they intend to wait for, and that something begis with an R and ends with E. That is to say, they're going to ship RAGE first before going into anything else.

Or in their own words, as follows:

Creative Director Tim Wilits:
"We're not going to give you guys so much as a (expletive) screenshot until RAGE is out the door."

Technical Director John Carmack:
(States that it basically doesn't make any sense to go into any details regarding Doom 4 until RAGE ships)

CEO Todd Hollenshead:
"Dude, if that's what Tim and John told you... what do you think I'm gonna say?!"

On a related note. the teams behind Doom 4 and RAGE will merge into one after work on the first of the two games is completed, and the folks at iD also essentially confirmed that Doom 4 is the next project after RAGE ships.
