Gran Turismo PSP: No DLC Planned
Polyphony Digital producer Kazunori Yamauchi has confirmed that his company's new PSP racing sim Gran Turismo will be able to share cars with its big brother GT5, launching sometime later next year. In an interview with Gamespot, he also apologized for taking so long to actually make Gran Turismo PSP, saying that he regretted the company's early announcement of the game to correspond with the launch of the PSP way back in 2005.
However, in the intervening time, things have changed a lot. Fans will be happy to know that Polyphony Digital has upgraded the game to be compatible with its console big brothers in more ways than one:
"I think when you actually play with the PSP version, you'll realize how it much it connects with GT 5 Prologue. It has a lot of elements from GT 5 Prologue in it, that I think you will notice. Whether it be from PSP to GT 5, to even future renditions, GT 6 and on, you can carry over those cars as your cars, as something you own, even if the system changes, you can keep it."
In addition to cross-system compatibility, Yamauchi also stated that the company has no plans for downloadable content, viewing the game as an integral whole right from day one.
As we already mentioned in our preview, Gran Turismo PSP will contain over 800 cars, 35 courses and at least 60 different course configurations. Incidentally, Yamauchi stated that GT PSP will contain all the courses ever included in the GT franchise, including the Nurburgring (the entire thing).
Two exclusive new cars will be the Ferrari Enzo (shown in promotional materials for the game) and the Nissan GTR R35 V-spec.
He also said that there will be multiple control options available, and players can opt to play with either the d-pad or analog stick.
