Gran Turismo PSP Announced, First Trailer Inside

gran_turismo_portable_icon.jpg

Gran Turismo Portable, long the brunt of jokes and thought to be vaporware, made a triumphant return on the center stage at E3 this year. Polyphony Digital founder Kazunouri Yamauchi demoed the game live to hundreds of eager journalists, just to prove the game really does exist. Sony will publish Gran Turismo PSP alongside the launch of the PSP Go in October, so we don't even have that long to wait.

Despite the small hardware, the game is a "full sized Gran Turismo" and runs at 60 frames per second. Yamauchi is not exaggerating, either: the game will contain 800 cars, 35 tracks, and 60 layouts of those tracks. Friends will be able to connect wirelessly and trade cars between themselves. There will also be ad-hoc racing for up to four players on a single track.

Single-player modes will contain time trials and a training mode to improve driving skills.
