Gran Turismo Box Art Looks So Real

GT5_logo_large_icon.jpg

It has taken so long for Gran Turismo PSP to finally arrive that the new box art revealed today almost seems too good to be true. While the game is being promoted as a digital download title to accompany the launch of the PSP Go in October, there will also be a UMD version launching at the same time. The retail box features none other than the menacing front grille of a Corvette ZR-1, one of the cars featured in the game. The Ferrari Enzo, which is also making an appearance in GT PSP would have made an equally attractive cover model, but we like the black menacing look of the current design. Series producer Kazunori Yamauchi recently told Motor Trend magazine that he felt it was time for an American muscle car to grace the front cover of the game:

"With all the automotive industry in the world at a crisis, we all know that North American automakers are especially in a very difficult situation. And as you all know, the game "Gran Turismo" was a video game that was nurtured by the kindness of the automotive industry, and that's why I wanted us to make something, that could cheer up people in the industry.

Many GM cars representative from the Autorama days have really helped build the foundations of my sense of beauty and values regarding cars, but something that has always been deep within my heart over the years is the long line of Corvettes. And the newest Corvette is the C6 ZR1."

It will be interesting to see how many people opt for the digital or the UMD version of this game. Looking at the packaging, it is going to be hard for us to part with our tangible UMDs. What do you think, readers? What version will you be picking up in October (assuming they are both priced about the same?)

Added bonus: scroll all the way down to chack out a brand new screenshot of the Corvette ZR-1 cruising in the streets of New York. This game looks so good!
