God of War Creator Will Remain Sony Exclusive

It is not surprising that David Jaffe has a great relationship with Sony. After all, the developer helped to create the astoundingly profitable God of War series of games as well as the Twisted Metal franchise. The recent success of God of War III (despite being in the hands of a new developer) is a testament to the popularity of Jaffe's original concept. The sequel managed to sell an incredible 1.1 million copies for the PS3 in the United States last month.

When asked whether his company Eat, Sleep, Play would consider going multiplatform with future game releases, the developer responded via twitter:

"We have great, long term relationships with Sony and we're fans of the PlayStation 'art meets commerce' DNA. We may work on other platforms one day, but we'll gratefully stay Sony exclusive as long as they will have us. It's an honor to be published by Sony's 1st party given the classics they have brought to the industry over the years."

Jaffe's studio has signed a 3-game exclusivity contract to develop games for Sony's PS3 console. So far we have no concrete confirmation on what those game titles might be, but we can make some educated guesses: many of the employees at Eat, Sleep Play also worked on the Twisted Metal franchise, suggessting that a new generation release might finally be on the way. Jaffe has promised to reveal more about this super secret project at E3 2010.

The Twisted Metal franchise even spawned a successful handheld version, which was one of the most widely loved launch titles for the PSP.
