God Eater Gameplay Trailer

Earlier this week we reported on a brand new PSP game from Namco-Bandai called God Eater. While the game has invited comparisons with Monster Hunter due to its emphasis on multiplayer questing and gigantic, monstrous foes, it is shaping up to be something different entirely. First, while the monsters bear some resemblance to the wyverns in Monster Hunter, there are also some mechanical and futuristic designs in this game, owing to its dystopian setting. Second, it appears that unlike Monster Hunter, God Eater features a full-fledged storyline, told through anime cutscenes using cell-shaded characters. You aren't just hunting the beasts for your own satisfaction -- you are actually saving the world from an invasion of evil, supernatural enemies.

The graphics and art design in God Eater look fantastic, as do the brief glimpses of gameplay in the first trailer (below). We hope that this game receives a rapid and high-quality English localization, because it could be one of the standount PSP releases in 2009.
