God Eater Announced For PSP in North America

God Eater is a new PSP game that we have been watching with considerable interest since it was announced for Japan last year. The cooperative multiplayer action game boasts much in common with the Monster Hunter franchise, a formula that has enjoyed massive success in Japan but has proven less popular over here. D3 Publisher hopes to reverse that trend with this new game, which will be released in North America later this year in Q3 2010.

Set in a desolate post-apocalyptic world, God Eater is a fast-paced action game that will pit human players against supernatural foes in more than 100 unique missions. The central feature of the game is the player's sword, which can take a number of different forms. Players can switch their game strategy at any time by instantly changing between weapon forms to slash, shoot, or devour enemies. Customize bullets can also be used to alter the strength, pattern and elemental type for super powerful attacks. Featuring cooperative modes, players can hunt with AI controlled party members or join hunting parties with up to four players via local adhoc mode or connect the PSP system to the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system to play online using adhoc Party.

The characters in God Eater wield huge swords that can take a variety of different forms.

In God Eater, the earth has been ruined by mutated beasts known as the Aragami and mankind's only hope against them is the Jinki weapons and the God Eaters who wield them. Players will create their own hero and battle more than 35 unique enemy types to find items to customize their weapons, guns, bullets and shields to increase their strength and stamina. A unique predator mode will add a new level of strategy as players transform their Jinki to beast form to gain a boost in stats and special bullets to launch potent attacks solo or with up to four friends.
