Getting Your Sony PSP Internet Connection Working Properly

The Sony PSP is typically touted as being a device that can not only play some stellar portable games, but also has the ability to allow users to surf the Internet. One question that often comes up though from owners, is how can you get the Sony PSP Internet connection working properly?

The Sony PSP has the ability to connect to the Internet through the use of Wi-Fi, as the handheld has a receiver to pick up the wireless signal.

There are a few basic things that you will need in order to get the Sony PSP Internet Connection working flawlessly.

The first thing that you are going to need is a high-speed Internet connection. This should be a connection such as a Cable or DSL Internet service. These are typically offered by your local cable and telephone companies such as Verizon, Comcast, RCN, etc.

Once you have an Internet connection, you will then need a high-speed modem in order to pick it up in your home, office, or wherever the connection is going to originate from.

The final piece to the puzzle is getting the modem connected to a wireless router via an Ethernet cable.

The Sony PSP Internet connection will pick up a wireless signal from just about any type of wireless router, including B, G, and N technology.

The handheld also has the ability to connect to secure wireless networks that you may create on the wireless router.

For the simplest connection, it is easiest to not put any security on the wireless network you create with the wireless router, but this also leaves the network open to others connecting as well.

Once the wireless network is all set up, the Sony PSP Internet connection can be established by going into the settings area of the Sony PSP, and choosing the wireless network.

Wireless networks can also typically be picked up where public Wi-Fi is offered, such as at coffee shops, restaurants, hotels, and other public locations.
