Five Good Reasons to Follow Us on Twitter
We won't try to pretend that we were always hip to this Twitter thing. At first it just seemed like another passing web 2.0 fad, better suited to people who wear those hideous Bluetooth headsets or rabid Ashton Kutcher fans hoping to catch up on what the star ate for breakfast. Twitter is a microblogging site that allows users to send short 140-character messages about what's going on in their world to their friends and family, who are supposed to follow them like they are some kind of big shot. It just didn't seem all that worthwhile at first, since we're not actually famous.
But then gradually Twitter sort of grew into its role. We started following software developers and publishers to get the latest news on upcoming games. A series of leaks alerted us to the fact that Twitter was great for spreading industry rumors. And more than that, we find it a useful way to collect quick snippets of news about what's going on in the gaming world on a daily basis. As the service expands and adds new features, we're sure that it will become a useful tool for news gathering and social networking. With that in mind, we finally took the plunge and created our own twitter feed, which you can follow here. In case you're not yet convinced, here are five good reasons why you should.
Twitter is the Fastest Growing Social Network - From recent geopolitical events to local news, Twitter has become the newswire service of the web 2.0 generation. Not everything on Twitter can be substantiated, but that's what makes it great for the spread of rumors, gossip, and other juicy news from the gaming world.
A Huge Network of Industry Contacts - As video game journalists we are in constant contact with publishers, developers, and PR representatives large and small. This means we are able to bring you the official company line (and the unofficial rumor) with speed and accuracy, all in one place!
Video Game Updates Wherever You Are - Whether you receive tweets on your Xbox 360 dashboard or through a mobile device, you'll get game industry updates fed directly to you. Om nom nom nom.
A Local Perspective - We are a global network, with contributors in major cities throughout America, Europe and Asia. If there is a gaming-related event happening in your area, you'll find out about it first from us.
All Your Gaming News in One Place - PSP World is part of the GameFlavor Network, which brings together world class websites for each of the major consoles. You'll get all of the updates for the Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, Nintendo DS and Wii platforms. If it moves in the gaming world, we report it.
