During the opening minutes of Sony's press event at E3 Monday, Kaz Hirai, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, provided an update on the PSP and revealed the platform's first colletion of Greatest Hits titles. Hirai said the PSP is the fastest-selling system in Sony's history, with 17 million units now shipped worldwide. Hirai said the first set of Greatest Hits titles (250,000 copies sold) were Ape Escape, ATV Offroad, Hot Shots, Twisted Metal, WipeOut Pure. A demo of Sony's upcoming e-distribution and emulation of PS1 games on the PSP was also given. While the lack of PSP news was unsurprising given the focus of the event -- the PS3 -- some had expected Hirai to spend more time on the PSP.
