One of the biggest gaming sensations from South Korea, Pentavision's DJ Max Portable, is finally coming to the United States. The rhythm-based DJ game sold a zillion copies in Korea, and a whole bunch more when its sequel, DJ Max Portable 2, was released in Korea and Japan. The series is a straight-up rhythm game, much like Dance Dance Revolution and Guitar Hero. Players must hit the appropriate face button of the PSP in time with the beat and with other visual cues. The original game came with three difficulty settings which used 4, 6, or 8 button combinations. The game was devilishly difficult and notoriously addictive, prompting many die-hard music fans to import.
US publisher PM Studios has announced that they will be releasing DJ Max Fever in North America on November 8th, 2008. Fever will update the formula from the first two games, while retaining the core gameplay and some of the favorite tracks from those titles.
