Dissidia, Idolmaster Pick Up Awards at TGS

The votes have been tallied, and the panel of judges has made its decision. Many games vied for the much-prized title of "Best in Show" at this year's Tokyo Game Show, but in the end, there could only be a handful of winners. For the PSP platform, a couple of upcoming titles stood out to the judges from the Japan Game Awards. These two games were Final Fantasy: Dissidia and Idolm@ster. Most PSP gamers will already be very familiar with the upcoming Final Fantasy brawler from Square Enix. It once felt as though the game would never be released, but the playable demo on the show floor and recent gameplay footage has us convinced.

Idolm@ster is a somewhat lesser-known upcoming release for the PSP from Namco Bandai. The game is an arcade rhythm game that has already been ported to Xbox Live and is now coming to the PSP. In keeping with the title of the game, the story focuses on a producer who must manage 9 aspiring pop idols. If this sounds like fertile terrain for a comedy Anime TV series, you'd be right: the game has already spawned an anime series in Japan called Idolmaster: Xenoglossia.

Full list of winners:

Idolm@ster - Namco Bandai - PSP
Gyakuten Kenji - Capcom - DS
White Knight Story - Sony - PS3
Star Ocean 4 - Square Enix - Xbox 360

The Japanese judges thought that Idolm@ster was one of the most promising titles for the PSP.
