Disgaea 2 Could be Coming to PSP

Japanese Magazine Gamewave is reporting that Disgaea 2 Portable is coming out in Japan soon. The game has a Japanese release date of March 26, 2009. So far, only one publication is reporting this, but Amazon.jp also has a listing for the game on its site, making the news more or less official until we hear otherwise. In addition, the strong sales of the first Disgaea port make a second game (and a Western release) more likely. Also, don’t forget about the Prinny spinoff that is already out in Japan and will be arriving in North America shortly.

Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories was released in 2006 for the PS2. The story is pretty standard RPG fare, but the game features a strong tactical battle system and gorgeous anime cutscenes.

The premise of the sequel is that an Overlord named Zenon has cursed the population of the kingdom of Veldime. The curse causes all of the people to become demons, which is apparently not as cool as it sounds. A young, angsty boy named Adell somehow manages to dodge the curse bullet and sets off on a quest to return his family to its original form. He has to team up with a cruel-hearted demon sidekick, for reasons that will be explained through cutscenes in the game.
