Darkstalkers, Mega Man Help Grow PSP Store

If you have a PSP Go and you were wondering where all the games were at, we've got good news. The selection of PSP games available for download grew by two more today, as Capcom added classic titles to the list. Darkstalkers: The Chaos Tower and Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X are available for download in North America starting today.

Darkstalkers
was originally released for the PSP way back in 2004, and it was actually a launch title in North America. Considering it was the very first 2D fighting game ever released for the system, Darkstalkers is an admirable effort. One gripe were the buttons on early PSP units that sometimes didn't register combo inputs correctly -- not so with the new hardware. Also, load times are now completely eliminated in the downloadable version. Players of the original particularly appreciated the Tower mode, which pitted fighters against an ascending series of challenges.

There is a particularly soft spot in our hearts for Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X, being the first game that we played all the way through on the PSP. Fans of the series will know that is no simple task: Maverick Hunter is a seriously challenging 2D sidescroller. What is so great about this particular game is that it is difficult without feeling cheap: every boss has his or her weak point and there are often multiple ways of tackling the levels. The 3D graphics on a 2D plane work particularly well, and we would go so far as to call it a classic PSP release. Definitely pick this one up if you are a fan of platforming, or Mega Man in general.

You could be playing Mega Man on your PSP right now. What are you waiting for?
