Eidos confirmed today they will be releasing Championship Manager 2007 for a variety of platforms, including the PlayStation Portable, in the first quarter of 2007. Developed by Oxfordshire, United Kingdom based Gusto Games, this is reportedly a totally new iteration of the football (soccer for all of us Yankees) management simulation franchise. Notes from the press release indicate the following (screenshots follow courtesy of Games Press):

- A vibrant new look and an intuitive control system
- Players can play against each other in head-to-head Battle Mode via wi-fi play
- Key changes include the ability for managers to now design their own set piece drills on the tactics pitch and then utilise them in a match. They can also interact with their team by providing stirring words to motivate them before and during matches, and with the advanced media system, how the player reacts towards the press, players and other managers, can mean the difference between them becoming a media darling or on the end of the next hate campaign.
- The new game also provides several Challenge Modes as well as the traditional 20-season play mode. Plus, behind the scenes, there is also a huge backroom staff of improvements including; comprehensive new transfer system allowing intricate player negotiations, innovative and dynamic news and media system, comprehensive player and club data, a refined match AI system and the introduction of two new English leagues; Conference North and South.
