Beaterator Also Slides to iPhone

Yesterday we got so worked up over the news that Chinatown Wars will be headed to the iPhone that we forgot to mention another one of Rockstar's properties that is also making the mobile leap. Timbaland's Beaterator music synthesizer program will be coming to the iPhone this fall, not long after its appearance on the PSN. The game features hundreds of sampled beats that can be strung together to create original tracks, and then shared with friends. Users will have to supply their own embarassing freestyle rap to go along with the music.

These two announcements mark an interesting trend, which is cross-platform releases on PSP and iPhone. They don't exactly make the mose convenient pair, since one features only touch input and the other features only buttons. We suspect that if Apple ever caved and offered a credible set of face buttons as a peripheral attachment, the iPhone would start to seriously compete with the PSP. Until then, porting games is going to require a lot more effort than many studios are willing to put in.

If all other things are equal (features, price, etc.) which platform do you think will garner the most sales? Our money is still on the PSP version, owing to the already crowded nature of the App Store.
