Atari has announced that it will bring Dungeons and Dragons: Tactics to PSP. This will be the first game in the storied D&D franchise to be available on the PSP. The game will offer an original DUNGEONS & DRAGONS storyline, in which players will take on the role of a child caught between two competing dragons striving for godhood. Depending on which dragon they align themselves with, the players may take a road of good or one of evil. Tactics will feature many D&D character classes including Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer and Wizard. Also in the game will be co-op and deathmatch multiplayer modes, and players will be able to download new dungeon maps as they become available in order to extend gameplay. Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics has not yet been rated and is slated for a release sometime in the holiday season 2006.

"DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Tactics will offer role-playing game fans and PSP system owners the only chance to bring this fantasy-based game wherever they go," said Rick Mehler, Director of Marketing, Atari, Inc. "With wireless cooperative game modes, downloadable content, customizable characters and the acclaimed 3.5 rule-set, Atari is thrilled to extend the D&D world to the handheld market."

"The PSP system has proven to be a very exciting platform to work with and an ideal choice to expand the world of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS within the interactive gaming space," said Jerry Chu, Senior Licensing Manager, Hasbro. "Making full use of the PSP system's unique capabilities, gamers will be granted an accurate D&D experience and story combined with a robust multiplayer system and the ability to extend gameplay thru downloadable content."
